3-Step Cast Iron Cleaning Method:
Step 1
Wash
Wash your cast iron cookware by hand. You can use a small amount of soap. If needed, use a pan scraper for stuck on food. For stubborn, stuck-on food, simmer a little water for 3-5 minutes, then use the scraper after the pan has cooled.
Step 2
Dry
Dry promptly and thoroughly with a lint-free cloth or paper towel. If you notice a little black residue on your towel, it's just seasoning and is perfectly normal.
Step 3
Oil
Rub a very light layer of cooking oil onto the surface of your cookware. Use a paper towel to wipe the surface until no oil residue remains.Show cleaning tools and products dr Lodge to make cleaning fast and easy)
TIP:
Salt Is Great for Scrubbing
When you need to use some elbow grease, the best tool for the job is coarse kosher salt. Sprinkle some salt into the pan while it's still warm and add a splash of water to make a paste, then scrub with a cloth or brush to remove stuck-on food.
Cooking Acidic ingredients in Cast Iron:
You can definitely cook with acidic ingredients in your cast-iron skillet, you have to be careful. First, make sure your pan is well seasoned; seasoning keeps the acid from interacting with the iron—to a point. An acidic sauce can afford a brief stay in a well-seasoned pan with no problems. You may want to re-season the pan after cooking.
